After the runaway success of his last release, Rough Edit (formerly Subsound), is back with a couple of new tracks guaranteed to tear the dancefloor in every direction.

“Dark Sun” mixes modern drum and bass flavors with the euphoric feeling of dancing in the desert at night. An exotic female vocal wraps its way around the track, while tribal drums thunder and a distorted, wobbly bass line pulses up through the ground, forcing you to dance.

On the flip is “St Tropez” an epic tune which builds with driving pianos, atmospheric synths, and a rolling distorted bass line to keep your head nodding and feet moving.

Both tunes have had massive play from the premier drum and bass radio station, Bassdrive.com

Watch out for big things from this London-based producer with a forthcoming EP on Dysfunktional Audio.

If you’d like a chance to win a free 12″ promo of this release, please leave a comment below and tell us why you love drum and bass!

sick sick sick release! Subsou…err Rough Edit does it again!

as far as why I love dnb…it grabbed my attention the first time I heard it because there wasn’t a constant kick drum going and I had to figure out how the hell you danced to this stuff ;) But I love the fact that you can dance (and lots of people do) half time or in full time to it. it’s funny because a lot of people will tell me that hardcore is too fast but dnb isn’t, when it’s the same bpm =P

I really like these, and the label in general! I’ll end up buying them even though I have no method to play them at the moment?

Why do I love DnB? Because Drum is nothing without Bass :)

  5. Skyve says:

D’n'B has throughout the years been a music that can both elate you and bring out the darkness inside. A music to rattle ribcages and wobble ankles. Clean beats and dirty bass. Heaven & Hell all rolling in one deep and murky rhythm :-)

FINALLY I have an ID on Dark Sun…. been looking for that one. Nice one Bexxie on the WHOLE DFA label. These Tracks are the reason I love DnB. I came from a Dubstep background and started listening to bassdrive at work. I have been spinnin both of them for about 2 years now and just absolutely love it. DnB has got soo much soul and you can really feel the music. You can hear the emotion put into the music, much like jazz or classical. DnB is just perfect :-D . Big ups Rough Edit on these Tracks. Killer tunes.

  7. Rob says:

I like DnB because it’s one of the few styles that you can have a proper skank out too! :)

  8. Anders (kaytaro) says:

I love DnB is because it’s the first genre of electronic music I was introduced to. DJ Zinc’s Supersharp Shooter and the Fugee Ready or Not were the first two tracks I heard! Bring on the bass!

  9. Adam says:

I love it because over the years its the only one to have stayed within itself. No sub naming and it’s also stuck to vinyl more then any other music. It’s oldskool, keeping vinyl alive! :p

  10. Josh V says:

I love drum & bass because there are so many great varieties to move between. From jungle to liquid funk, techstep to jump-up, it’s easy to craft a set that flows with through bangers and chill, beautiful moments. Most other genres that doesn’t work. Drum & Bass has so many quality producers doing such drastically different stuff.

  11. Streamline says:

    Love the track!

I simply love drum & bass music because it’s good music!
From the rythm of drum going faster and faster into a climax to the low basses making your heartbeat sick :)
D&B makes me relax when I’m at home and makes me wanna party @ a gig. It’s basically the ONLY music where I will dance to :’)

Wish I could produce a track that makes people love drum & bass!

    Cheers

D&B is the most often well-produced music there is and it’s a pleasure to listen to funky liquid tunes at home on a good sound system and have the same tracks on a big club PA. Or a bar. Or on your headphones when on the annoying train. Versatility, I’d say.

  13. Bas says:

DnB is music you can listen at all times. When you are at a rave DnB is great to party at. When you are at home DnB is great to relax after a boring day at work. When you are waking up listening to DnB is a great way of waking up.

    Cheers!
